Work on the new premium Nunawading Station is progressing well
On 17 and 18 October the project reached two key construction milestones - a breakthrough beneath the Springvale Road bridge deck and delivery of the first three prefabricated structures for new station.
Since the Springvale Road bridge deck was created during the road closure in September, the project team has been working hard to excavate soil from under the bridge.
The final section of soil nine metres below ground level was excavated to allow daylight into where a pedestrian underpass, station platform and new train tracks will be added in coming months.
The first new station structures were delivered at about 1:00am on Sunday 18 October after being pre-fabricated locally in recent weeks.
After delivery, our construction team began connecting services like power and water and adding final touches to the building such as internal painting.
Constructing the buildings off-site allowed other works on and under the west concourse to progress safely at the same time.
Installation of the graffiti-resistant baked enamel exterior building finishes and glazing will be added in coming months.
