Temporary pedestrian shuttle bus during Springvale Road closure at Nunawading

Due to deep excavation works, rail track and overhead wires removal from noon on Friday 1 January at the site of the current Springvale Road rail crossing in Nunawading, no safe pedestrian access will be available for approximately 48 hours.

The current temporary steel footbridge from the outbound rail tracks to Walkers Road will be removed at 12 noon on Friday 1st. This means the nearest safe north-south crossing for pedestrians (and through traffic) will be at Rooks Road.

Safe access for pedestrians who want to walk on Springvale Road between Walkers Road/Silver Grove and Station Street/Laughlin Avenue is expected to be reinstated by 6am on Sunday 3 January.

During these two days, the Springvale Road Rail Separation Project will provide a free all-hours shuttle bus to take any pedestrians around the closed off section of Springvale Road. There will be courtesy staff at each bus area to assist pedestrians.

Pick-up/drop-off points on Springvale Road are shown on the map.

  • South of the current rail crossing: between Station Street and Market Street near the pedestrian crossing.
  • North of the current rail crossing: Whitehorse Road side of Walkers Road near the pedestrian crossing.

Please note, no bicycles can be taken on the shuttle bus. For people using a mobility aid such as motorised scooter/wheelchair, our courtesy staff at the bus points can arrange a free shuttle taxi with lift apparatus to take them around the closed-off area.

Pedestrians are urged to observe all signage and instructions from traffic controllers near the construction area. This area will extend along the rail corridor around 450m to the east and west of Springvale Road, with works going non-stop day and night.

Your safety is our priority. With thanks for your cooperation.
